In an interview with Florida's Sun-Sentinel, author Stephanie Meyer discusses her novel Eclipse, about the relationship between a girl and a "gentlemanly vampire." Third in the series, Eclipse was preceded by 2005's Twilight and 2006's New Moon. The concept for these books, she explained, came from a dream that she had.
"I saw two characters talking about the fact that they were in love," she said. "He was telling her that his problem was that he wanted to kill her because she smelled so tasty.." Despite her success (she has 1.6 million books in print), she admitted that she is not a vampire fan . "I haven't read Dracula and I don't watch scary movies." And yet she appeals to fans with her vampiric tales of romance.
